A Sound Design Production by Thomas W. Campbell
With the performances of Arnold C. Baker II as Greg, Ina Rosenthal as Colleen and William Thomas as Barton Jr.
Recorded and produced in Summer, 2023 and completed in January, 2024.
The Release is a sound design project that adapts an original short screenplay into an audio-only production. The story began as a short film that I made at City College during my Grad School days in the late 2000’s. It was produced in the fall of 2006 and starred Jay Frisch as Barton, Jeff Hoagland as Greg, and Holly Leavy as Colleen. Below is a copy of the original Release film from a DVD.

During the Covid years I dug into some of my past work, found this old script and began to revise it for a new production. Though I finished the script it didn’t lead to a film shoot and eventually it was adapted again – now into an audio production. Below is some of the pre-production material for the film shoot I was planning:

Much of the film promotion and pre-production also works for the audio adaptation, which has only a few changes from the second film script. I have attached the location images to the audio recording in case you forget where you are in the story.
The action, which has evolved since the original film, now involves Barton, the son of a notorious deceased artist, Greg, the documentary film maker who has been hired to tell his story, and Colleen, Barton’s sister, who is determined that the story be true to her mother’s life as well.
A mysteriously missing release form brings them together to battle over what and who’s story will ultimately be told.
The Release is available for streaming on all major platforms.
Written, Produced and Directed by Thomas W. Campbell
The Release was recorded and mixed in 24 bit/96 kHz and is a stereo production. Original recordings and music by Thomas W. Campbell.

I will add an excerpt shortly – the audio narrative is currently being submitted to festivals so will need to stay under wraps for now.
